Playa del Carmen is situated on the Mexican coast flanked by the Caribbean Sea in an area known as the Riviera Maya (or Mayan Riviera as it is translated). The beauty of Playa de Carmen’s (and indeed all of the Riviera Maya’s) white sand beaches and turquoise waters is indisputable but Playa del Carmen has got more than just a beautiful beach. Playa (as it is known to the locals) is full of life (day and night) and it’s not hard to understand why it’s such a popular wedding destination. The main street (5th Avenue) is only one block away from the beach and is full of bars, restaurants and general partying. There are also plenty of margaritas and open air massages on offer all along the beach if you wish to lull away the afternoon or evening on the sand. Playa del Carmen is a superb wedding destination if you want both natural beauty and that holiday atmosphere of celebration and fun. I’ve photographed a couple of weddings at The Royal Playa del Carmen and they were fantastic. The Blue Parrot Inn Hotel also looks ideal as a wedding destination, as does Kinbé Hotel, especially if you want a more tranquil wedding. There are many hotels all along the Riviera Maya between Playa del Carmen and Cancun. I only recently moved to Mexico from the UK and have already photographed several weddings in Playa del Carmen and other parts of the Riviera Maya and I have to say that I always look forward to my next one…..
